How are your New Year’s resolutions coming along? If some of those goals have already fallen by the wayside, don’t fret. You’re not alone. A quick Google search for ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ reveals numerous articles that prove most people fail to stick to their resolutions within weeks of making them, in some cases, even days!
To help inspire you to stick to your 2018 goals, we reached out to some of our clients and asked them to share their number one tip for staying on track.
Whether your wish for 2018 is to enter the real estate market, take your career to the next level, lose 5, 10, 15 or 70 pounds, embark on the exciting journey of business ownership, or find more time for the things you love to do, check out these timeless tips for staying on track.
TIP #1: For becoming your own boss:
If you’re an entrepreneur, or planning to become one in 2018, you know there’s always lots of stress and never-ending work. If it were possible, I’m sure entrepreneurs would work 24 hours a day. But is that healthy? The answer is obvious!
Over the years, I have learned that balance is the key to being a successful entrepreneur. It’s a marathon, not a sprint race. Taking time for your self with proper rest, healthy eating habits, daily exercise, and R&R time are essential. Ensuring that you are taking the time for yourself at the start of the New Year and practicing healthy habits even if they are small, is the key to achieving balance. Here are my top tips for balanced healthy living for entrepreneurs:
- Start the day off right with a healthy balanced breakfast. It can really set the tone for your entire day.
- Limit caffeine to 1-2 cups per day. Fuelling yourself with fake energy instead of food, only leaves you feeling cranky and less productive in the long run.
- Get good rest. Without it your performance and ability to be a good leader can be inhibited.
- Take time to NOT work! Turn off technology, and enjoy the things you love. Taking time to yourself and relaxing helps you be a better leader and more efficient.

TIP #2: For finding more ‘me time’:
My advice is to focus on a warm welcome to the new year versus the overrated good bye to the past year. That means replace the partying, late night festivities and hung over up-at-the-crack-of-noon routine with a different tack. I recommend a super healthy delicious dinner before 8 p.m., use a mind map to set your course for 2018, get to bed by 10:30 p.m., up at the crack of dawn to kick off the year right with some form of meditation, exercise and real social interaction.

TIP #3: For taking your career to the next level:
Is furthering your education one of your 2018 resolutions? Whether you’re a recent grad or higher up on the career ladder, an MBA can help you make the next move to career success. Make 2018 the year that you invest in yourself. Start with a list: In one column list your accomplishments, in the other list your goals for 2018, the next five and ten years. Consider the skills you want to develop to achieve these objectives. As you begin your MBA research, use this list to reflect upon the key factors leading you to further your education. If you want to learn more about getting your MBA beyond online research and campus visits, you can attend The MBA Tour in your city. Registration is free and the biggest advantage is meeting face-to-face with Admissions Directors and having all of your questions answered in one place! Check out our winter tour schedule here.

TIP #4: For becoming a first-time property owner:
There is a wise old saying: “The best time to buy real estate was 40 years ago, the second best time is now.” In life we often get caught up trying to predict when is the best time to buy, and we often hesitate and miss the opportunity. At Condos.ca, we believe a home in a good location will forever have value, especially when you consider the growing global populations.”

TIP #5: For making your health and well being a priority
Running a fast paced, growing business can be challenging! Here at Three Farmers, we are dedicated to producing healthy, nutritious foods for our customers but sometimes we are so consumed with achieving this goal that we forget to keep our own bodies nourished and fueled throughout the day! Our tip for 2018 is to eat healthy – mind your fruits and vegetables and snack with purpose. Choose foods that are nutrient dense and offer value to your mind and your body to keep you feeling your best all day long!

TIP #6:
We are so fortunate here at On Q Communications to work with clients whose businesses we truly believe in. Just reading the tips above you see how you can become a BETTER person simply by following their wise advice. It’s truly a pleasure and a privilege to be able to help these companies grow by helping out with spreading their message to their audience.
January 2018 marks On Q’s 14 years anniversary. We’ve worked with MANY companies over this time, helping them launch new products, getting the word out through media relations and social media, events and ads. I’ve seen many businesses grow (some fail) and I’ve learned from lessons in our own business when we succeeded greatly (or have gone through growing pains). My resolution for 2018 is to truly understand what you love and what you’re good at doing. As much as possible, if you can focus the bulk of your time on that, you will be able to reach your true potential.
